Configure and change domain names on GoSELL 

With the GoSELL platform, after creating a store, you will have a free and default domain name in the form of shopname.gosell.biz. However, you can customize your domain name to enhance the professionalism of your business operations. This article will guide you on how to configure and change the domain name for your website on the GoSELL platform. 

Step–by–step guide: 

Prepare the domain name

Purchase a new domain name from GoSELL or a reputable domain registrer. Then, configure DNS. 

  • Log in to your domain registrar’s account. 
  • Navigate to the DNS settings section (usually DNS Management, DNS Zone Editor, etc.). 
  • Add or edit DNS records: 
  • A record: Points a domain or subdomain to an IP address. 
  • CNAME record: Points a subdomain to another domain name. 
  • MX record: Sets up the mail server to receive emails. 
  • TXT record: Adds authentication information or text. 
  • Save the DNS changes. 

Example: Domain name example.com. 

  • A Record: 
  • Host/Name: @. 
  • Type: A. 
  • Value: 192.168.1.1. 
  • Purpose: Points the main domain example.com to the IP address 192.168.1.1. 
  • CNAME Record: 
  • Host/Name: www. 
  • Type: CNAME. 
  • Value: example.com. 
  • Purpose: Points the subdomain www.example.com to example.com. 
  • MX Record: 
  • Host/Name: @ 
  • Type: MX. 
  • Value: mail.example.com. 
  • Priority: 10. 
  • Purpose: Sets up mail.example.com as the mail server for example.com. 
  • TXT Record: 
  • Host/Name: @. 
  • Type: TXT. 
  • Value: “v=spf1 ip4:192.168.1.1 ~all”. 
  • Purpose: Adds SPF authentication information for email. 

=> Result: 

  • The domain name example.com will point to the IP address 192.168.1.1. 
  • The subdomain www.example.com will redirect to example.com. 
  • Emails sent to example.com will be forwarded to the mail.example.com server. 
  • SPF information will authenticate emails sent from the IP address 192.168.1.1. 

Update the domain name on GoSELL 

Step 1: Log in to the Admin Page at: https://admin.gosell.biz/. 

Step 2: Select Online shop then choose Domains. 

Step 3: In the New domain section, enter the domain name you purchased. 

Step 4: Click Save to update. 

Step 5: Contact the GoSELL team to activate. 

After completing the above steps, contact the GoSELL support team to notify them and request activation of the new domain name. 

Note: The DNS update process may take a few hours to a day.
